Washington State Mentors (WSM) is part of a national campaign to increase awareness about mentoring services and the need for volunteer mentors. Created by the Harvard School of Public Health and MENTOR, National Mentoring Month (NMM) is marking its eighth year in 2009. By focusing national attention on the need for mentors we hope to assure brighter futures for our children. In Washington State there are 240,000 children that could benefit from a mentor, but only 30,000 have one. WSM is closing that mentoring gap.
